Floating Fish Food Pellets Manufacturing Process & Machines

Making floating fish feed pellets has six steps: crushing, mixing, extruding, drying, cooling, and packing. The following is a detailed description.

  • Step 1: Crushing Raw Materials

A feed crusher machine is needed for this step. Raw materials should be pulverized to the desired size by the feed crusher machine. Hammer mill, specifically speaking, the wide chamber fine feed hammer mill, is quite suitable for aquatic special feed coarse powder fine grinding.

  • Step 2: Mixing Raw Materials

A feed mixer machine is needed for this step. For extruding efficiency and improving the feed quality, it is necessary to mix the raw materials thoroughly. And users can add liquid like molasses and grease more evenly into the raw material by the atomizing spraying system which is customized in the feed mixer machine.

  • Step 3: Extruding Raw Materials

A floating fish food extruder machine is needed for this step. There are two kinds of fish feed pellet extruders: dry type wet type. The wet one is equipped with the conditioner and should be added to the steam boiler. The dry-type fish feed production line is cheaper than the wet one, but the capacity of it is lower than the wet one. So, generally speaking, for large-scale feed pellet factories, the wet type fish feed extruder is befitting; for small or medium floating fish food production line, the dry type extruder machineis economical and suitable.   • Step 4: Drying Final Fish Food Pellets

A feed pellet dryer is needed for this step. The mesh belt dryer is a continuous convective belt dryer. After passing the extruder, the pellets are formed and stacked in layers on wire mesh or a perforated plate belt conveyor, then they will be continuously conveyed through the drying chamber. The pellets passing through the extruder are stacked in layers on wire mesh or perforated plate belt conveyor and continuously conveyed through the drying chamber. During this process, drying air will repeatedly flow through the material layer until the pellets reach the best moisture content then the pellets will leave the dryer. But if the fish feed pellet-making machine is wet type, the gas type pellet dryer is recommended.

  • Step 5: Cooling Final Fish Food Pellets

A feed pellet cooler is needed for this step. When the temperature of the pellets whose surface is sprayed with oil and grease increases, the pellets will become soft and easy to be broken. To avoid loss due to this reason, the feed pellets must be cooled and hardened. The cooling method which is adopted by most fish feed pellet plants is using the counter flow cooler in which the fish feed pellets are moving in the opposite direction to the cooling air.

  • Step 6: Packing Final Floating Fish Food Pellets

An automatic packing machine is needed for this step. The final pellet had better be packed properly for storing, transporting, and selling.
